Two Nights of SurfMonkey And School Begins...

Somehow, two game nights with SurfMonkey have come and gone without a post. Time to catch up.

Our first of the two missing sessions found us trying out the Star Wars Imperial Assault minis game. We played the tutorial skirmish mission.

From there we broke out the new hotness in card games: Ashes: Rise of the Phoenixborn from Plaid Hat Games, the company that brought me my favorite game: Summoner Wars. The designer, Isaac Vega also brought the world one of the best games in the universe, Dead of Winter.

This game does not disappoint. The dice resource mechanic makes me smile and the card art is beautiful.

Our second session saw more Ashes. Different decks this time and SurfMonkey came out victorious in a glorious back and forth slugfest.

We ended the night with a game of Dicemasters: Dungeons & Dragons. SurfMonkey hadn't played this version of Dicemasters yet, so it was a must play for him. In the end, I was victorious. Fun times.

I have also been doing some solo gaming in my dwindling free time.

That's right. I have broken out ye old Pathfinder Adventure Card Game recently and finished another chapter in the Rise of the Runelords campaign and have set up for another. I think this game still holds up and look forward to finally finishing the story arc. As there are plenty more adventures for this game to come, I think it will keep me firmly in solo gaming for awhile.

Fall is slowly approaching, and as anyone knows, fall is Lovecraft time here at magehammer's Gaming Table. I played some more Call of Cthulhu LCG and will be beginning a campaign as a player in Weezoh's Trail of Cthulhu game soon. Stay tuned for more gaming goodness as the footballs fly and the leaves tumble.

Keep on rolling dice and slinging cards, people!
