A Bad Night for SurfMonkey and Other Stories

SurfMonkey came over for our monthly game night. As with our last meeting, card games were featured. We started out with my current favorite card game: Call of Cthulhu LCG. SurfMonkey played my newly constructed Mi-Go deck while I played my Order of the Silver Twilight build.

It was a great game. I got off to a fast start, but once the Mi Go were up and running, the game swung his way. In the end, the bounce effect of my Silver Twilight Lodge characters won me the day, three stories to two! Awesome game!

Then we moved to Epic. We played with the demi god builds. The picture below pretty much tells you how the games went for SurfMonkey.

Our final game of the night was VS. System 2PCG. I played Iron Man Avengers build. He played the Deadpool X Men build. Neither of us leveled our main characters, and in the end, the Avengers were victorious.

Also, in the past couple of days, I managed to get in several solo games of Call of Cthulhu vs. Minion 2.0.

The first game was Shub vs. a Tome-heavy Miskatonic Investigator deck. It was a great game. In the end, Shub broke the world with a Dimensional Rift, and won the game on the next turn. Epic!

Then I played my Silver Twilight deck vs. the Cthulhu deck. It was a struggle, but in the end, the Lodge won.

Max and I also got in a quick game of Epic one day after school. Good vs. Wild. Wild was victorious.

One night the boys and I also got in a game of King of Tokyo using the Halloween edition dice. Fun times!

On the Starshield Game Society front, SurfMonkey takes his place 'behind the screen' and is running a Titansgrave campaign. My character is a blaster-happy halfling called Roldice Maifoot. Looking forward to playing the Fantasy AGE system for the first time.

That's all for now. I expect the next time I post, it will include some more Call of Cthulhu. We'll see...

SurfMonkey Was in the Cards

SurfMonkey made it through the pleasant weather to participate in our monthly game night. We have both come into card games recently and needed to get them to the table.

First up, Epic! We played two faction games with me winning two hard fought duels. We played a third game after playing VS. System 2PCG with the demigod cards. That was an epic (see what I did there), knock down, tooth and claw, drag down fight. Both of us in single digits, I eked out a win at the last second. Great fun!

We played one game of VS. He played the Avengers, and I played the villains. Capt. America vs. Loki. My first time playing Loki. I just couldn't get the Plot Twist engine going. He probably is not the best choice for the suggested villain deck. I look forward to building a deck around him eventually once the pre-constructs have run their course.

I am already looking forward to next month. More cards and maybe we will pull out a board game...maybe.

Games On!

The boys campaign continues as the heroes tackle the Dungeon of Crane the Sorcerer.

Max and I continue to explore this fun superhero card fest, Vs. System 2PCG

Max and I continue to play Epic Card Game. Random and mono faction decks have been fun:
Next up: Max wants to build a deck...

And I just picked this up today at Crystal Dragon Hobbies...

And SurfMonkey this week: I will keep you posted...

Epic Vs. System 2pcg Fun!

My Kickstarted darling, Epic the Card Game arrived the other day. It is all sleeved up and has been played several times already. Deal out 30 cards each and duel! I have played Zoltar & SurfMonkey. And Maximan and I have played several games as well. I do love the feel of the game. The art is amazing. Looking forward to more plays. Red Dragon Tabletop Game Society here it comes!

Maximan and I are playing the heck out of Vs. System. The gaming community seems pretty torn on this one, but Max and I are loving it.

Sling cards like it's my job!

Into the Fall...

In the Starshield Gaming Society, fall is in full swing and Weezoh is running our annual Lovecraft game. This year is the Eternal Lies campaign for Trail of Cthulhu. So far, so great and creepy. Great role-playing at its finest.

In other tabletop news:

Max and I have been playing the new and exciting VS. System 2PCG from Upper Deck Entertainment. I am really enjoying it! Things the game has in common with Call of Cthulhu LCG: Draw 2 cards a round, any card can be a resource.

It is a fast-paced and fun game. I can't stop thinking about playing it. Sign of a good game, if you ask me. Looking forward to crushing SurfMonkey in it in a couple of weeks.

The Red Dragon Tabletop Gaming Society has begun. I taught a student how to play Ashes and plan on running a D&D game for a couple of sessions.

Fall has begun. Let the games begin!
