Re Summoning Summoner Wars, King of Tokyo, and the Ho Crain Passes Through

Image result for king of tokyo

After watching a series of reviews by the Dice Tower on the final series of Second Summoners for my favorite board game, Max and I were inspired to make our way back to the battlefields of Itharia.

We each won a game. Good times.

The Ho Crain stopped by for some Cardfight Vanguard goodness. I won three of four games and taught Crain how to play my solo version.

The boys and I keep breaking out King of Tokyo when we get the chance. It really is a great filler game.

On to more games. See you all next time.

SurfMonkey Continues His Vanguard Victories! Plus, Summer Games!

SurfMonkey and I got together for our monthly game night Tuesday night for some Cardfight! Vanguard. The only one of my decks that was victorious was my Gear Chronicle deck. However, the great thing about playing Vanguard is you have fun, win or lose. Looking forward to more Cardfighting with SurfMonkey next month!! I will have my revenge!

The boys and I got in a game of the new Advanced Song of Blades and Heroes ruleset. It does have more than standard SoBH, but really doesn't seem much more complicated. True to Andrea's designs, it is a simple, streamlined miniatures skirmish.

My orcs were wiped out early and the boys slugged it out. In the end, it was Max and his wizard that orchestrated an amazing comeback over poor Jasper. Good times, though!

Summer break is in full swing here, and the boys and I have been playing a variety of games. We have gotten King of the Tabletop to the 'table' twice already. Good dice chukking and monster slashing fun!

With summer here, the boys and I have resumed our Dungeons and Dragons campaign. Their characters are still at 10th level. But not for long. Captain Teamat, Major Orchard, Kardrell Stormpeace, and the newest member of the party, Bob the Halfling Rogue. Black dragon, stone golem, and tiefling assassins are just a few of the foes the heroes have vanquished. Looking forward to more adventures with the boys!

And, of course, no post would be complete without mentioning my solo Vanguard games. Still fun. Love playing this game solitaire almost as much as I love losing to SurfMonkey at Vanguard. Ha! JK! Love playing this game no matter what.

Thanks for reading. Until the next post, keep on gaming on!

A Bad Night for SurfMonkey and Other Stories

SurfMonkey came over for our monthly game night. As with our last meeting, card games were featured. We started out with my current favorite card game: Call of Cthulhu LCG. SurfMonkey played my newly constructed Mi-Go deck while I played my Order of the Silver Twilight build.

It was a great game. I got off to a fast start, but once the Mi Go were up and running, the game swung his way. In the end, the bounce effect of my Silver Twilight Lodge characters won me the day, three stories to two! Awesome game!

Then we moved to Epic. We played with the demi god builds. The picture below pretty much tells you how the games went for SurfMonkey.

Our final game of the night was VS. System 2PCG. I played Iron Man Avengers build. He played the Deadpool X Men build. Neither of us leveled our main characters, and in the end, the Avengers were victorious.

Also, in the past couple of days, I managed to get in several solo games of Call of Cthulhu vs. Minion 2.0.

The first game was Shub vs. a Tome-heavy Miskatonic Investigator deck. It was a great game. In the end, Shub broke the world with a Dimensional Rift, and won the game on the next turn. Epic!

Then I played my Silver Twilight deck vs. the Cthulhu deck. It was a struggle, but in the end, the Lodge won.

Max and I also got in a quick game of Epic one day after school. Good vs. Wild. Wild was victorious.

One night the boys and I also got in a game of King of Tokyo using the Halloween edition dice. Fun times!

On the Starshield Game Society front, SurfMonkey takes his place 'behind the screen' and is running a Titansgrave campaign. My character is a blaster-happy halfling called Roldice Maifoot. Looking forward to playing the Fantasy AGE system for the first time.

That's all for now. I expect the next time I post, it will include some more Call of Cthulhu. We'll see...
