Summer Is Fleeting. Games Are Heating Up!

Broke out Power Legion, statted some more heroes and villains, wrote some house rules for combat and armor, and played two scenarios. In the first scenario Gargoyle and Rage Zombie summoned the Dark Infernal from his ethereal prison house. Tough Girl, Talon, and The Resilient Sphere were there to stop them. However, the heroes were defeated.

In the second scenario, the Unstoppables were at the Void prison to stop the Dark Infernal, Gargoyle, and Rage Zombie from breaking free their leader, Morlock. It was a tough battle, but in the end, the Unstoppables proved to be just that.

SurfMonkey and I got together for card night where I introduced a new feature to our get-togethers. Dormant Expandable Card Game Random Chance. I made a list of the card games we own but don't play often or at all. We roll on a table at the beginning of the night and play the game rolled. Then we go on to play what we planned for the rest of the evening. This time around, we rolled Warhammer 40K Conquest. After that, we played Cardfight Vanguard and Dragonball Super Card Game. SurfMonkey had a good night.

Maximan and I have been exploring Crystal Clans further as well as had a chance to play a game of the new Warhammer Age of Sigmar Champions TCG. Both are great games. I am looking forward to playing both games more.

Then Holy Crap! Fantasy Flight Games dropped an industry-changing announcement at Gen Con. Richard Garfield has designed a unique deck game (the first of its kind) and will unleash it on the world in November. I am beyond excited about this innovative and exciting game. It's like it's 1993 all over again. This has the potential to become as big as Magic; it's that game changing.

I have my pre orders in. Can't wait!!

SurfMonkey's Final Fantasy and Game Time at Our Gaming Table

Max and I played a pick up homebrew Star Wars skirmish game. I played a few games of solo, two-handed Arkham Horror LCG games, Jasper and I played D&D 5E with him behind the screen and me playing an 18th level halfling wizard. Max and I also pulled out some Warhammer 40K Conquest decks (Space Marines vs. Tyranids ) and clashed on some planets.

Then SurfMonkey and I got together for our monthly game night and played the new hottness, Final Fantasy TCG. Call me hooked.

March has come in like a lion. A gaming lion. I will tame it. (Too lame? Sorry).

Gaming In The New Year

Happy New Year! The annual party game for MEM was one the hottest hits of the year: Codenames! It lives up to the hype. We played it all evening. Truly a great game.

I also finally built Tyranid decks for Warhammer 40K Conquest. We have played twice since teh decks were built. The first game, Maximan played the horrific bugs vs. my Astra Militarum. The bugs had my soldiers for breakfast.

We played a second game. This time I was the bugs. Maximan's Space Marines beat the bugs. Good times.

Our Fantasy AGE Titansgrave game is starting back up again after the holiday hiatus. I will also be heading over to SurfMonkey's place next week for more gaming.

Stay tuned and see you soon in 2016! Crazy.

Christmas Time Means Tabletop Time

Max wanted to play some Conquest here on Christmas break, so that's what we did. And Max won! It was a squeaker. In the end, Max's Space Marines beat up my Chaos Marines. Good times.

My gaming Christmas gift so far is the exciting Mage Wars Academy. Max and I have played three games so far, pictorially presented below. Some exciting dice rolls, Max pumping up his mana to 17! Creatures slamming into each other. This game has it all. Being able to choose the spell you want to play is a really cool and tactical aspect of this game that makes for a really fun experience. And did I mention dice?!

And of course, I have also managed to get in a solo game of my favorite, Call of Cthulhu LCG. This time it was the Hunters of the Agency vs. the Thousand Young of Shub. The Hunters ended up with an overwhelming victory!

With another family Christmas celebration and New Year's festivities coming up this week, stay tuned for even more gaming goodness here at magehammer's Gaming Table. Hope you all had a great holiday. See you soon!
