Eldritch Horror to the Max!!

I got in another solo game this past week. It was brutal!! I played three investigators vs. Yog-sothoth. Though, the investigators managed to keep the Great Old One from entering our world, I lost two investigators in the process. One to insanity and the other to bodily harm.

It was taxing but in the end oh, so fun!!

Then Maximan and I played a game vs. Ithaqua. Holy crap! We got our hypothermia-ed butts handed to us. It truly was a horrific defeat.

Maximan is thirsting for vengeance. I can't wait to play again!!

SurfMonkey Reigns!!!!

SurfMonkey came over Saturday for a bonus game day. We played two games of Luck and Logic and two games of Cardfight Vanguard.

I played Tamaki and Chloe vs. SurfMonkey's brand spanking new Trial Deck. Bullet Logic. He trounced me both games.

In our Vanguard games, I played my Dark Irregulars vs. his Granblue. I decked out and lost. Our second game was my Gear Chronicle Time Leap deck vs. his Gold Paladins Unite deck. I finally won one that day.

Well played, SurfMonkey. Well played.

Oh, The Horror!!!

As the Lovecraft time of year approaches, I decided to try out a new Arkham Files game from Fantasy Flight Games to provide a different style of game than my usual solo Call of Cthulhu LCG play.

This game has intrigued me since it came out a couple of years ago. Being a fully cooperative game, it also plays excellently solo.

I got it to the table and was able to play a complete game piecemeal over four days time. Final verdict: It's a blast! I played three investigators trying to prevent Azathoth from entering our world and devouring it.

I didn't lose a single investigator, though they were pretty beat up, and it was a romping good time. I have purchased the Mountains of Madness big box expansion and will work its additions into the next game. I also have the first expansion, Forsaken Lore on order at my FLGS. Can't wait for more terrible goodness to infect my games!

I have a feeling this gem of a game will find plenty of play throughout the fall and into the winter. Can't wait to play it again!

Until next time, play some games!!

End of Summer Game Time!

Brigid and Weezoh were in town, so the Starshield Boardgaming Knights met up at Zoltar's house for a night of boardgaming. First up was Dead of Winter, followed by two games of Codenames. We won the Dead of Winter game! I was 1-1 in Codenames.

Games continue to happen at our home game table. I pulled out an old chestnut for Maximan to experience. Dreamblade!!! Still a solid fun game.

Maximan and Jaspersaurus got in some more Imperial Assault. They played an outdoor encounter on one of my D&D playmats. The Imperials and bounty hunters won the day.

Thanks for reading. And I'll see you at the gaming table.

SurfMonkey, The Ho Crain, and Even More Tabletop Time!

Monthly game cards night with SurfMonkey. Our really cool, banner-style Vanguard and Luck and Logic playmats arrived and came out amazing. On the night, we played two games of Luck and Logic and two games of Cardfight! Vanguard. I ended the night at 1-1 in Luck and Logic and 1-1 in Cardfight Vanguard. Good times!

The day after SurfMonkey night, the Ho Crain stopped by for one last cards session before heading back to college. I lost every game I played except for a Luck and Logic game vs. Crain. I'm starting to think L&L might just be my game!!

Maximan has been running a D&D campaign for Jaspersauraus and me. I have to say I am having a blast playing a halfling sorcerer: Tendo Glowfoot and the human monk: Car Bladehand. Jasper is playing Capt. Facepuncher and a Dragonborn cleric named Conroe.

Our heroes have protected two villages from monster incursions and are looking to keep everyone safe for years to come.

There are games of Cardfight Vanguard daily.

Loving Luck and Logic and am eagerly anticipating the third Trial Deck!

Target had the excellent game Magic the Gathering: Duel of the Planeswalkers for $9.+. I couldn't pass it up. We played a couple of games and had fun doing it!

We even sneaked in a game of Rune Age.

Maximan has become interested in Imperial Assault. SurfMonkey generously allowed us to borrow his copy. Max won't get his until his birthday in November. We played two games so far, and it is even more fun than I remember.

See you all again soon. School looms on the horizon, with it less time to play games, but we will try to get them in when we can.
