A Pictorial History of my Tabletop Gaming for the Week of Feb. 28th, 2011

Did I mention I love to play games...

SurfMonkey was over for our monthly night of games. First up was Castle Ravenloft. The game components are high quality as you would expect from WotC. We did opt, though, to use pre-painted minis from my collection for our characters. I was playing the Dwarf Cleric, and SurfMonkey was playing the Dragonborn.
We played two of the scenarios. The first one we won, and the second won we were defeated by the dracolich. Came close, though, but in the end, I had to use too many of my Encounter Powers too early. Oh, well.
I enjoyed the game, but it made me want to play an RPG. And not 4E, strangely enough. After exploring the nightmare world of the Castle, it was time to Summon forth more fun in two games of Summoner Wars.
In the first game, the Vanguards fell to the Precise strikes of the Phoenix Elves. Ouch. But the good news was, I finally got out the Magos. By that time, though, it was too late.
For the last game, my trusty Tundra Orcs smashed the undead. I mean, this game was all orcs. I almost felt bad for SurfMonkey. Nothing went his way. But hey, at least he won the first game. No matter what, though, when you play Summoner Wars, you have fun, win or lose. At least that has been my experience.

Guess What I Did Last Night?

My first 4 player game of Summoner Wars! It was intense. The tactical options that opened up were awesome. I love the wrap around board; really keeps you on your toes.

The dwarves and Phoenix Elves won, but it was the Guild Dwarves--piloted by Lirpa--who dominated the game. She always seemed to have Magic Points, always seemed to have Champions, and she rolled more hits than Charlie Sheen's Twitter Account.

There was one glimmer of hope in the end game when Iczer took Ragnor up against Oldin. He furied twice, and was a Fury away from taking him down. Being melded to his wall help the dwarven Summoner, but it could have been epic. As it was, the final gambit failed, and the Guild Dwarves carried the day.

Overall, an excellent good time was had by all. Thanks Starshielders!

P.S. I still have session reports coming, but they may just be a bit truncated as I am a bit distracted these days. Thanks for staying faithful to the blog. Until next time, may your dice roll true!

Session Reports On Their Way...

In the past two days, I have played Dreamblade, Cthulhu Dice, Castle Ravenloft, and Summoner Wars. It may take me awhile, but I will get up session reports and photos in the next couple of days. Stay tuned, good reader. And good gaming.
